On April 23, 2024, Sarah Schettle, a distinguished alumna of Oshkosh West High School, was honored as the recipient of the 2024 Oshkosh West High School Distinguished Alumni Award. The award, presented annually to alumni who have demonstrated excellence in their work, personal accomplishments, or service to others, recognizes individuals who have maintained a high standard of excellence.

During the award ceremony, Sarah Schettle shared insights from her professional journey within the medical field, particularly her specialization in treating mechanical circulatory support device patients. She recounted a touching story of a patient overcoming medical complications to attend his daughter's wedding with the help of such a device and the medical intervention of Schettle and her colleagues.
